When I was four years old I was diagnosed with a bilateral sensorineural hearing loss. At the time it was mild to moderate, and over time it has increased to severe to profound. My left ear is my good ear - my right ear hears barely anything.
I wear hearing aids in both ears. They are Oticon Epoqs, which I got in October 2009. Prior to that I had a pair of Widex digital aids, and before that I wore analog models. I went to public school from kindergarten through high school and never took any specialized classes.
I took two years of American Sign Language in high school through my local community college, but unfortunately I've forgotten most of it. I love the language, but I don't know enough people who use it to retain it.
